January Favourites!

30 January 2014

I know it's overused, but didn't 2014 start yesterday? Where does all the time go! This month was a great start to the new year, I gained some wonderful followers (hello!) and I discovered some amazing products that have snuck their way into my favourites this month! Now that you're probably itching to find out why I love these products, I won't keep you waiting any longer and get right into it!

The Lipstick Tag!

28 January 2014

Yay! Before I get into the questions, thank you to the beautiful Sarah from All Her Pretty Little Things for tagging me! If you're not following her already, then you should definitely check her out. Her blog is so much fun to read, and she always writes great posts!

I'm a lipstick junkie, I have about a million lipsticks all the same colour and some that I picked up randomly "just because", so for me, this is the perfect tag, considering my obsession with lipsticks. So without further ado, here are my answers!

Liebster Award!

25 January 2014

First off, I would like to thank Fatima from Lipsticks and Coffee for nominating me for a Liebster Award! Her blog is a lovely mixture of makeup and fashion so I highly recommend you to check it out!

So here are my answers!

Back To Basics: Choosing The Right Foundation

24 January 2014

If I had a dollar for the amount of times people ask me "Basmah, what foundation should I buy?", then I'll be rich. The truth is ladies, choosing the right foundation isn't as easy as 1,2,3, there are a lot of things you must consider before you go out and buy your holy grail. That is why, today we're going back to the basics, and I'm going to be talking about how you can choose the right foundation for you.

Hairhouse Warehouse The Savvy Collection!

22 January 2014

Don't freak out, but everything you see above? I paid $30 for! Bargain right!? Hairhouse Warehouse comes out with these Savvy boxes from time to time and they're always jam packed with amazing products for such a great price! Considering I wanted to try the Goldwell Rich Repair shampoo & conditioner, which separately cost $20.95 each, this was a total God send! So when I found out that they have this deal going on, I called up my local HHWH, asked them to put this on hold for me and I ran out the door without even eating breakfast (which I do not recommend), so if you would like to know what is inside then keep on reading!

Current Loves and Wants - Wishlist

21 January 2014

These days I've found myself lusting after so many different things, whether it be beauty, fashion, or just complete random, so I've decided to compile a wishlist of everything that I'm currently admiring from afar. I should warn you now that this post may make you want to grab your credit card and run out the door so read at your own risk!

Lorac Pro Palette: This eyeshadow palette has been out for awhile and is highly coveted in the beauty world and is something I haven't gotten around to trying. The colours look stunning and are a nice variety of shimmers and mattes, which makes this palette incredibly versatile. Considering I'm a huge fan of neutral eyeshadows, this palette is right up my alley as it doesn't consist of bright colours which I find can be too overwhelming on my eyes.

Babyliss Pro GT Ionic Hairdryer: Okay, so I've never really been a huge fan of hairdryers as I never get the result that I want, until I realised that my hairdryer is from the 1990's and straightening my hair from time to time is excessively damaging my hair. Hairdryers aren't particularly great for your hair either, but considering it doesn't apply direct heat to your hair, I still consider them a better option than a hair straightener. Plus, who doesn't want voluminous, blow dried hair!?

Goldwell Rich Repair Shampoo & Conditioner: Another hair product, see the pattern here? I recently got my hair cut pretty short (for my standards) so I really want to maintain the health and condition of my hair, so when it grows out, it isn't damaged and lifeless looking. I've read great reviews on the Goldwell Rich Repair shampoo & conditioner, and in the past I've tried Goldwell shampoos and they really are wonderful. They make your hair shiny and silky, something straight out of a shampoo commercial. Even though they're pretty pricey, they are worth it in the long run considering the results you end up with.

Zara City Bag: If you don't know, I'm a Uni student, so half the time I'm struggling to find a bag big enough to fit all the things I need. This Zara bag is perfect! It contains a slot for your laptop and has plenty of space for your books and notes, not only that, it looks great too!

FRENDS Headphones: These are gorgeous! The price? Not so much. When I'm travelling on public transport I always see trendy people with trendy headphones, needless to say, they're becoming a fashion accessory. Unlike the Beats by Dr. Dre, these are much more feminine and have a unique design which I've never seen anywhere else. If I had to leave something on this list to last, it would probably be these headphones as my iPhone earphones work perfectly fine, but there's no law to lust after them is there?

YSL Youth Liberator Foundation: If I told anyone else that I would spend $85 on a foundation, they would think I'm crazy, that's why I'm so glad I have you beauty fanatics to talk to. Every single British beauty blogger is raving about this product, and from photos and videos, it really seems like a 10/10 foundation. This foundation gives great coverage, but also makes it look like you're lit from within, which is everything you want from a foundation (how many times have I said foundation?). Maybe when winter roles around and I need something new, I'll get my hands on this.

So that's it! These are what I'm currently loving and wanting! Leave your loves and wants down below, and tell me if you like these kind of posts and I'll do more!

Best Drugstore/Highstreet Pink Lipsticks! (All Formulas)

20 January 2014

First of all, I would like to apologise for the terrible lighting in this photo, as it's very gloomy today in Sydney and the only place with decent lighting was the kitchen (not the ideal place for blog photos), so now that you have (hopefully) forgiven me, lets get started!

Today I have my top pink lip products from the drugstore. If you're one of those girls that look more like the Joker and less like Marilyn Monroe with red lipstick on, then pink is the perfect colour for you! It's a perfect shade for those just starting out into the bold lip phase and it's a universal shade that flatters everyone, so lets get into it!

REVIEW: NARS Eyeshadow Duo Surabaya

14 January 2014

As I was pondering on what to blog about, a sudden realisation hit me, when boxing day came around I decided to splurge on the NARS eyeshadow duo in Surabaya and having it for a few weeks now I thought you would all be interested in a review. So, is it worth the price tag?

Beachside Beauty Essentials!

9 January 2014

So, it's kinda ironic how I'm writing this blog post while it's so gloomy outside, but it is still summer and I'm sure as soon as the sun is back, you'll hit the beach! Which is why I'm here to help you on what to take to the beach before you come back with peeling skin and a red nose (I've been there, not pretty believe me). So here are my beach side beauty essentials!

Best Beauty Products of 2013!

3 January 2014

First post of the year! Hope you're all having a great year so far. Today I'm going to be talking about the best beauty products of 2013 (in my humble opinion), these posts are what I look forward to the most at the start of the year, because who doesn't want to go out and spend all their pretty pennies on products that actually work? Warning you now, that this post will be a looooong one. So grab yourself a cup of coffee, or chocolate in my case (healthy in 2014? That resolution is gone out the window) and read on!

Goodbye 2013. Hello 2014.

1 January 2014

Dear 2013,

You have been good to me, you made me realise that if my year goes horribly wrong, it isn't your fault, it's mine for not living it to the fullest. Thank you for the great experiences, but also, thank you for the not-so-great. You see, with every bad moment comes a lesson that is important to learn from. Looking back, I've realised just how much I've grown this year. My first year of University, where I met amazing people and made some wonderful friends. My internship at Beautyheaven which was incredible, not only is everyone so warm and welcoming, but I really learnt to push myself as a Journalist. My 18th birthday, a year older and wiser. But the best moment in 2013 would have to be when my nephew was born. He taught me how to love, how to care for someone other than myself. Thank you 2013, for keeping my old friends still here with me towards the end. Thank you for the opportunity to help interview Kate Hudson & Goldie Hawn.

This year wasn't always so great, I found out how cold some people can be, and that people judge you if you aren't like them. I learnt that not everyone is going to be happy for your success, and that some friends aren't really your friends after all. Sometimes (all the time) you need to embrace your quirks, your weird habits, your imperfections, because you can't please everyone. Thank you for showing me that I'm perfect in my own imperfect way, I will mess up, I will say things I don't mean and I will have bad days, but all that matters in the end is how you handled yourself and the situation. It's okay to be wrong once in a while, and it's okay to make mistakes. I don't have any resolutions planned, but one thing I am going to try this upcoming year is to step out of my comfort zone, do things that I would never imagine doing.

2013, you have been a big year, a very eventful year full of ups and downs, but I won't tell 2014 to be good to me, because it isn't 2014's responsibility to make my life better, it's mine. Next year, at this same time on New Years Eve, I will come back to this post and read it to see how much I've grown since now. But right now, I would like to thank all my GFC, Bloglovin followers and my readers for staying with me through December, the month I officially started blogging. I hope you all have a happy and safe NYE, and a wonderful 2014. Here's to 2014! A year full of opportunities and excitement!

Best wishes,
